Ryan McClain Releases Statement on Ending The Use of The Death Penalty in Ohio 8/13/2018
Updated: Sep 18, 2019
I want to talk about something that I feel as a citizen of Ohio, and as a potential future state rep, is critical to me.
There is massive potential for The State of Ohio to support liberty, even in our general assembly, and on rare occasions believe it or not, members of the general assembly have proposed liberty-leaning bills.
State Representative Nickie Antonio of State House District 13 proposed a bill to abolish the death penalty in Ohio, and while I am not a Democrat, I agree with her on abolishing the death penalty.
As of 2014, In the State of Ohio, it costs roughly $3 million per prisoner to put an inmate through the process of death row, vs. the $1 million cost for life without parole.
Unfortunately, bills such as HB 389 of the 132nd General Assembly rarely go through.
If I am elected, I will fight to abolish the outdated and costly death penalty in Ohio.
